NEW PACKAGING - NEW BOXES 28/06/2010
Erie Powder Coatings / EPC Powder Mfg. have made the move to new boxes. "Our customers will be seeing them soon" said company president Brian Coutts, "and while it seems like a small change, after all it's just packaging, it's actually a significant product improvement"
Erie Powder / EPC made the move with the new boxes due to customer feedback. "We're always trying to listen to our customers" Mr. Coutts said. "The changes help with a number of customer issues that have been brought up"
The main changes with the boxes are the size and set-up of the boxes. The new boxes have a smaller footprint, but are slightly taller. This allows a smaller footprint on the customers floor, and will allow skids to be packaged in 600kg (1320 lbs) and 900kg (1980 lbs) sizes.
And the other big improvement? "One of the big customer complaints that some of our customers have about our old boxes, and most of our competitors boxes are that they rip on the handles when you try to pick them up" said Mr Coutts. "We've taken the step of upgrading the boxes with specialty polymer tape between the layers of cardboard to give the handle area much improved strength. This adds some to the cost of the box, but we really feel the improvement is worth it for both our handling of these boxes and our customers too".
Last, the boxes also sport new graphics. "Again, this is not just cosmetic. We've re-designed the boxes so that the label appears on the smaller face of the box. This means that for our customers, when they put them on the shelf, the label is facing out. Our older boxes, and most all of our competitors, have labels that face in or sideways towards the shelf, so that you have to actually pull the box out to read the label" says Mr. Coutts.
The new boxes are already in use, and will be seen in our customers production facilities shortly.
NAI COATING SHOW, INDIANAPOLIS, OCTOBER 2010, SEE US AT BOOTH 909 22/02/2010
Erie Powder Coatings / EPC Powder are happy to announce we will be exhibiting at the NAI coating show. The show will be at the Indianapolis Convention Center on October 27- 29th 2010.
This show is being organized by the Powder Coating Institute (PCI) and NACE International. This will replace the major coating show that PCI has organized in past years.
There will be a technical program available to attendees of this coating show, which will deal with many of the issues in application and usage of powder coatings.
According to a letter from PCI, the new show will draw new people and companies to the traditional powder coatings show. In a letter from PCI, they state "PCI made the decision to partner with NACE for this event because they are an organization that will add so many new and exciting dimensions to our coating show. NACE is an organization with more than 20,000 members worldwide, which focus on corrosion protection. This will provide a true industrial liquid coating element to our show"
Look for us at booth 909.

SMART PACK PROGRAM 06/04/2009
Erie Powder Coatings is proud to offer the “Smart Pack” program. This brand new program is a continuation of Erie’s thrust toward offering the customer what they want – more choice, at a better price. Company president Brian Coutts discussed the program:
“This program really offers our customers a choice that isn’t available in the market today. While there are some other powder suppliers offering small pack or repack powders, they don’t come close to matching the flexibility of this program”.
“Over the last number of years, we’ve had all kinds of customers asking for small pack powders. Many of our customers, especially custom coaters, really like the small pack powders. The problem is that if they are offered at all, they only come in 5lb or 25lb packages. This works fine for some applications, but not all. For instance, we just had a customer needing about 7 pounds of powder to produce a job. His choice was either 2-five pound packs, or a 25lb package.”
“We custom produce these packs, they aren’t sitting on the shelf. The advantage for the customer? If they want 7 lbs, they can get 7lbs, at a reasonable cost. And they aren’t buying a small package of stock powder that may have been sitting on a powder manufacturers shelf for a couple of years.”
This is a new offering from Erie / EPC, but demand is already high. If you would like more information on the program, just give us a call, and we will get you what you need.
NEW PAYMENT OPTIONS 13/03/2009

US FACILITY UP AND RUNNING 19/02/2009
Erie Powder / EPC Powder are very pleased to announce that the new "North East" facility is producing powder coatings. The new manufacturing plant, located in the town of North East Pennsylvania (10 minutes from Erie PA) has been under construction for most of 2008, but the first commercial production from the new powder lines was manufactured and shipped in November 2008.
Brian Coutts, President of the two companies, welcomed the news of the plant opening and production. "This is a huge step forward for Erie Powder / EPC and will allow our company to have much improved service to the US market." Mr Coutts noted that the plant location is central to a large portion of the north and central US, and makes a very economical shipping point for the powder products.
The new facility is a 40,000 square foot building on 22 acres of land just off Interstate 90 in Erie PA.
